2026 Step UP for Down Syndrome Walk

We Step UP for Down S yndrome exactly two months from today! Share the story of why YOU walk!

The Step UP for Down Syndrome Walk is our largest annual fundraiser and a powerful celebration of community, advocacy, and inclusion. Whether you create a team, fundraise, sponsor, donate, volunteer, or walk alongside us, you are helping build a more connected, inclusive community where people with Down syndrome have opportunities to learn, lead, connect, and live self-determined lives.

Thank you to our 26 team captains! We are aiming for 60 teams this year, which would be a DSNMC record. Mobilize your family and friends by creating a team and asking them to join it!

We want to know why you walk. Fill out this short form  to be featured in our emails and social media and inspire others to Step UP for Down S yndrome !

National Down Syndrome Congress Policy Summit

Join DSNMC at the NDSC Policy Summit in Washington, DC!

Have you been feeling frustrated by recent policy changes? Have you wanted to get involved in advocacy but weren't sure where to start? We have an incredible opportunity right in our backyard!

The National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) is hosting its Policy Summit on September 29-30 in Washington, DC . Day 1 provides you with the knowledge, tools, and background you need to advocate effectively for policies that matter to our community. Day 2 gives you the opportunity to take what you’ve learned straight to Capitol Hill to meet and speak with your representatives.

Living in the DMV gives us a unique advantage to show up and make our voices heard on issues that directly impact individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Several DSNMC staff members and local families are already registered, and we would love to have a strong delegation representing Maryland! But you have to act fast — registration closes on September 1 .

Special 1-Day Discount: Because of our local proximity, NDSC is offering a discounted rate for DSNMC members who can only attend one day. Attending Day 1 to learn current policy practices is highly recommended! If you are interested in the 1-day discount, please contact Kristi Maeng .
