Parent Connect: Co-Occurring Diagnoses, Part 2: We Need Answers

Parent/Caregiver Speaker Series: Co-Occuring Diagnoses, Part 2: We Need Answers on Wednesday, July 29

Join DSNMC virtually for "We Need Answers," the second of our three-part Parent/Caregiver Speaker Series on Co-Occurring Diagnoses. Dr. Nicole Baumer , Director of the Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children's Hospital Colorado, will present on how diagnoses are made, how to differentiate overlapping traits, and how treatment plans are typically built.  Families will gain clarity around how teams work together, what evidence-based interventions may look like, and how supports can evolve over time.   Please note that this session will not be recorded.

321 Ready: Transition prepares self-advocates for the future

In mid-July, DSNMC hosted 10 self-advocates for 321 Ready: Transition, a week-long summer program to learn about college, future careers, and community life. What a busy week filled with activities — and lots of walking! We explored UMD College Park and made connections all throughout campus. Highlights included visiting with the UMD police, creating art in a guided painting lesson, conquering a climbing wall, touring the Clarice Center for the Performing Arts and Campus Farm, and working out at an OpenBarre class.

Thank you to the Carl M. Freeman Foundation and the Montgomery County Community Grants program , whose funding supported this program!
